Default 6/11 Fishing Report

Lake Mendota Bluegills continue to be scattered in and around their typical spawning areas. There have been some nice fish caught, but not in big numbers. Whitebass have been spotty recently, but should start to bite more consistently any time. Smallmouth Bass have started to move out onto the bars. Try using tube jigs or 1/8th oz. lead head jigs tipped with leeches in 10-18' of water. Lake Monona Bluegill spawning seems to be slowing down, so alot of the action has switched to the outside weedlines. Try vertically fishing in 9-10' of water, or just outside of the weeds with jigs like the Willyworms in purple or red tipped with spikes or waxworms. The Musky action seems to be picking up, with more fish hitting baits instead of just following! Largemouth Bass are becoming more active on the deeper weed edges. Shore fishermen have been having decent success for Bluegills in Monona Bay & off of Monona Terrace. Lake Waubesa Bluegills have also switched to the outside edges of the weeds. Walleyes have started using some of the bars and slip bobbers tipped with leeches have been producing some action. Shore fishermen are still having some success on Bluegills and Catfish on Cherokee.
