The last ice berg in Walker Bay sunk on April 6th, this is a new record date for ice out on Leech Lake. The old record was April, 10th.

What does this mean for the walleye opener, which is later this season. Much depends on the weather we have till then. I do anticipate the fish may be deeper, depending on the location of the lake shiners which are normally fairly shallow on the opener.
