Fishing Report
Got back last Sun. from 2 weeks on Canyon Lake. Weather sucked, but the fishing was great, lots of walleyes, lots in the 21-25" range and the biggest we got was 26 1/2". Didn't catch hardly any walleyes on the reefs this year, no idea why but did catch them in the bays and along the shores while fishing bass. Used slip bobber along the shore and caught a lot of walleyes in 3-6 ft. of water. Sm. bass fishing was good, not big numbers of bass, but lots of nice bass from 14-17" with biggest being 18". Usually I do good fishing top water baits for bass, but only caught one on top water this year and none on crank baits. Muskie fishing was tough, did get one 37" but caught it on a leech fishing for bass. I've been fishing Canyon for 25+ years and this year was different, water temp. was only 66 degrees, bass hadn't spawned yet, walleyes were shallow, etc., never seen anything like it, but still the fishing was great. Does anyone know, will the bass still spawn this late in the year and will the young make it?
