Default Cash tourney results from 7/25

Does anyone have the results of Larry's tourney yesterday on Chautauqua?? I heard someone (fishing alone) hit a 47 and 48 so I would assume he took home the cash........

The Winner was Daryle Branieki with a 48 inch fish and was fishing alone. The tourney format was biggest fish takes all. There were 28 muskies caught & released by 38 fishermen......9 of the 28 muskies were from 40 to 48 inches, most of the rest were mid-30 inch fish. Daryle took home 760 dollars in cash with 38 teams fishing the event.

We had 4 fish up and 2 hooked within the first 30 minutes of fishing between 10:15 and 10:45. Like you, we could not bear trolling around the North end and clearing rods every 10 minutes.

Try finding some clean weed edges (that should not be hard) somewhere in the North end and start working anything that is "twitchable". Do not be afraid to work the same areas from different angles/baits before deciding to leave, especially if you raise a fish or two in that area.

It was obvious that the zebra mussels are really cleaning up the lake due to the presence of deeper stubble all the way out to 14-15 feet of water. It will be interesting watching that lake continue to transform as the zebra mussels become more prevalent. It was my first time out there this year and I was shocked at the water clarity.

Thanks Red. Good to know that the grasses haven't pushed the fish out of the weeds in all areas. didn't want to find out the hard way during the tourney that they had been.

And after seeing the algae bloom around bemus, I now remember why I told my wife 'no rentals on the south end!!' you'd think the zebras didn't exist down there!

If you want to check on the zebra population, just drop an anchor for 5 minutes and pull her up........they will be hanging off the anchor by the thousands in the North end.
