That pic has been floating around for a couple years now, I think. I'm pretty sure I remember hearing that it was really a european pike. Huge pike either way.

I cannot see that site here at school because it is blocked but if it is the red haired guy holding it, I also heard it came from Sweeden/Germany.

They talked about this pike again in the 2009 In Fisherman Pike and Muskie edition.

The world record came from Germany in 1986.......The fish weighed just over 55 pounds!

the fish that was originally posted about by Pescatore is the same fish as the one on the 1st link that you attached, 3rd pike down on the left (the guy holding it in the boat on his lap).
Europe does have some very impressive pike.
