Illinois Fishing Report

Martin and I fished a shad based lake on Sunday. We caught 2 muskies on the short size, less than 30 inches trolling crank baits. Just before a minor moon phase we switched over to casting, I had a lo 40's inch muskie eat at mid retrieve but lost it, we made a second pass and martin had one about the same size roll on his turmoil glider. All in all it was good to get out, considering it was just ice out.

Hey ben you say just before moorise my calendar says sunday it was at 454am you were fishing before that time for skies-or is my moon phase off.

oops I did not make out the pm and am, I did check with the solunar table and it showed a minor close to that time. thanks for letting me know.

A little late on the reply, but it was definetly good to get out- besides the 2 short fish Ben got - I saw a nice size fish flash on my turmoil glider -I didn't see the length- but the side was "tall" meaning I think it was in the low 40" range for sure- maybe bigger?? I dont know for sure ,but it was a good fish - anyways things should only get better from here.

Hey ben or musky martin-been out 3 times and have been throwing everything at them.I have not seen a fish yet-were is a good place to start for early season skies.Yesterday i tried petite,and fox,last week channel and catherine,and bluff.I'm not looking for your secret spots just maybe a lake and north south,east or west.Thank's
