Another year, another great trip
Our annual trip came and went, all too soon.
We arrived on March 5, and got fishing by about 2:30. (Thanks to Frank for turning on the oven so the ham was done when we got in!)
Fishing was fair, and we had aquired enough for a nice fish fry.
Friday came, and the fishing was very good, but streaky.
Saturday dawned cold, sunny and windless for the most part. Just the conditions I fear the most. We hit reefs, we hit isolated mudflats, we hit current, - everything we could think of. Fish were marked, but were very negative. About one in 10 would play ball, and about 1 in 20 would bite. Even still, we still got some nice fish at times. The old addage of never give up applied, as sooner or later the fish that did bite were usually worth the wait.
Here are some photos, in no particular order of catch:
Nice Eaters
Walleyes with one of two hefties he caught
Here is another of his protected slot fish
Here is one I caught during the tough conditions on Saturday - what a fattie!

Not to be outdone, The Warden just had to catch something bigger than me. This time, it was herself. These things happen sometimes when you tear down in the dark.
The hook
Important prep work
The extraction
Really, the prep work was not needed. She was a trooper and her pain threshold is amazing. Thanks to Frank and Laura for another great trip.

One more I forgot, Cory with a nice slot

If I jab a hook in my finger, can I get some prep work as well????
