When the river first opens up in the Chamberlain area, are the walleye upstream from chamberlain? Where is the best action right after the ice is gone?

The fishing is usually best around the dam to Kiowa Area. Right now the open water is only from the dam to Crow Creek. Fishing has been fair to good when the weather has been decent.

1st Walleye trip 2009
I'm thinking about coming out there next Friday if the weather is decent. Is it still open up north?

As of right now the river is froze up to Eagle Island. I would assume with warm weather the rest of the week, there will be open water from the Dam to Crow Creek again. It does not take long to open up the Channel with warmer weather.
