Area Lakes Reports 2/5/09
The panfish have been biting on area lakes on a fairly regular basis.
Lake Monona's Monona Bay, Triangle & Tressle Area has been giving up good numbers with alot of sorting ~ There are some bigger gills and Crappies 8"+ showing up the past week caught off minnows. Out on the lake the mid lake bar areas are giving up fish out from Olin Park and just across the lake from the park off the point. While out Bluegill fishing we have seen alot of activity from perch angles off Law and Hudson Parks they seem to move around daily.
Lake Waubesa has had fairly consistent Bluegills biting. They are very finiky at times and require a very slow up and down jigging motion. Small Marmooska, Rat Finkys, Fatboys, Teardrop jigs/plastics/waxworms/spikes have all had there time and place here as we have thrown everything at them at times and had some great results while others have failed. Areas we have fished are near shore by Bible Camp out for the Good land and Lake Farm Parks. There has been alot of action from anglers on Upper Mud Lake
Lake Mendota has been fairly slow with a few Bluegills and Northerns in University Bay and fair Perch fishing in 70-80 feet of water out from second pt. to spring harbor then north to the doors.
Reports from Lake Delavan have had fair to slow fishing with bluegill action in and along weeds in 4-17 feet of water. Most are fishing the south end where access is very limited. Other areas have been off the Sailboat and Lake Lawn Marina's, A few Northern have been caught off shinnersin the channel of norht shore drive.
Reports from Lake Geneva has had reports coming in with fairly good Bluegill action off Fontana and in Geneva Bay. A few nice sized Northern have been caught on tip-ups amongst the panfisherman. Lake Trout are active and biting jigging spoons for those chasing them.
Lake Koshkonong Walleye action remains fair and slowing with most action in Haights, Binghams Bays, County Club north to the Junk Pile. Both tip-ups and Jigging Raps and catching fish.
