    Default Auger racks for atvs

Alright guys lets see and hear about what you're using for auger carry duty. I now have an 07 King Quad and I don't like the racks I see in the stores...too breakable!

Awesome! I looked at the Moose rack albeit not real close up and it does seem to look okay but still...it's plastic.

    Default auger rack

    Hey,

After reading more about various units I bought the Moose racks. There isn't much out there to choose from and having moved into my new house recently I don't have a shop set up yet for fabricating. If these work out, great. Otherwise next season I'll have it covered with steel or aluminum.

    Default racks

I appreciate the effort. I have some friends with full fab shops too but to find the time to get it done is tough. Eventually after I build my garage and set up my own "shop" I'll be able build something if need be, but for now I'll give the Moose racks a try. Again thanks!

    Default Stearns Mad Dog rack

I am an idiot sometimes. I bought the Stearns Mad dog system but my brain was convinced that I had the moose stuff. I'll be mounting the "Mad Dog" rack this week and will then offer my opinion and post such.

    Default rack

    Hey,
I mounted the racks and they seem rigid enough. I haven't been on the ice yet(maybe right after Xmas as our ice here is iffy for atv travel)but when I plow Friday, Saturday and Sunday I'll strap the auger on and give'r. I'll report my successes or failures.

I have a Stearns Mad Dog Ice Auger Holder and it doesn't work very well with my older 3hp Jiffy 10" Auger but my dad has the same one for his 3hp 8” Jiffy Stealth and it works great. The handles on my auger don’t want to stay on the two little pads they are supposed to sit on and so I have to adjust them a lot. My dad doesn’t have this problem with his so it might depend on the auger and maybe even on the wheeler you are putting it on. That is my two cents.

I have the moose auger rack and I have had no problems. They are very durable- enough so that I leave my auger in the rack when I transport on a trailer or in the back of a truck. I have never had a problem or a break. That is my 2 cents.
