Do the eagles follow the geese back?
Eagles usually start to show up n small numbers around March 1st, but may disappear with a cold snap. We should start seeing them by the gross shortly.
Do they search for things that have died over winter and become uncovered as the snow melts? Hard to imagine there's much food there for them in March otherwise..
Yes. They spend a lot of time at the waters edge.
April 4th.A very big day internationally.
My birthday, but please don't make a big fuss about it.
Ah, I'm with you. We're clearly twins.
Gloomy forecast.

Cold and snow pretty much bringing the progress to a halt. But the current is still taking it's toll. Big open area between Cyclone and Passage full of geese. Saw two big white blobs (quiet Ruhmann) sitting there yesterday, which could be pelicans.
Big change here. Looking at today's sat pic, you can see open water in the Portage, Sturgeon Channel, Johnston Passage, Big Narrows, and quite a lot of the west side of Falcon.

I see I missed my window of opportunity, I would never insult any of the fine folks that come to this site, the not so fine, they are open game !!
You insult by default......
Big changes yesterday. Took my last sled ride to Young's Bay. Would probably go today, but not tomorrow. Changing by the hour, even with the cold.
Fred (the mailman) sent me this video he took where the Warroad River meets the lake.

View from the house this morning. Should be open to the outside of the barge today. With almost a week of northeast winds coming, highly likely the bay will melt in place, rather than float out. Hopefully moving by the end of the week.

There's a submarine on your lawn!
Nice. Have you been fishing yet?
Heading for the Zag as we speak...............
They where launching boats today at Young's. Still ice in the channel, but looked open after that.
Just chunks from the ramp to the weeds. Wide open after that. Good to have a boat back at the dock again. Looks like most of it is gone this morning.
How's the pike fishing been?
Funny you should mention it, but I just caught the first one of the year off the dock. Had quite a few follow, and swipe at the lure, but only caught one. Pretty beat up.
