We hit first ice today. There is a solid, clear 3-3 1/2", and didn't hardly crack when walking around. Cleats are an absolute necessity, for now, but the forecast is calling for 4-6" snow starting Sun. AM. That certainly won't help formation of solid base, and will surely create slush at first, til we finally get some sub-zeros. Northerns & perch were the active feeders today. First time in years here on north shore, with the clear ice that we can see the entire weed beds for great hole placement. Caution is the WORD and don't forget your ice picks & cleats, as you can see, the surface is an ice skaters dream. Fying Flags!
