Long time LOTW angler and now summer resident, Dick Moore, will once again be offering tips, trends and reports on how he is finding things during the 2010 fishing season.

Check back with this thread for more reports throughout the year.

Dick's 2010 Pre-Season Report:

Another season is at hand and this will be a little different than last year. Early ice out and low water. Walleyes are done spawning and will be scattered. Look for deeper rocky shorelines and bays with weeds. South and west facing areas are always better this time of year. Jigs and minnows are the old standby, however we tend to drag bottom bouncers and spinners with minnows. Hammered brass and copper usually out produce other colors. Don't hesitate to try dragging crankbaits along the shoreline. Try casting jigs along sandy bays in the evening This can be hot. A little early for crawlers, but leeches might produce.

Last year we had a ball on crappies, but I think it will be a little harder to find them this year. Northerns should be around weedy areas and could produce some great fishing.

Be safe, wear your flotation device and good luck.
