Prior to thanksgiving the ice was forming nicely - had about 7" out there. Then there was a week of snow, about 15" actually.
Here's what I have been hearing: Slush in most places but not all, if you have a snowmobile you can pack it down and fish, but don't get off your path, most of the ice shacks are only on the north end of the lake and they were out before the snow, and have been put up on blocks to keep the slush out.
Someone told me this morning they saw a snowmobile head out of the rest area off of Hwy 2 and they turned around after about 75' because of the slush. With the -10 to -20 temps the ice is still forming about an 1" a night -
Here is what I know: I walked out on the lake at our beach on Tuesday, nice ice, just a little snow close to shore. The farther I walked the deeper the snow, OK. The next FEW steps didn't last long. I stepped through 4" snow into 5" of slush. I was off the lake - I see no activity on the south end at all.
It's gonna get better
