Cool weather has continued in the area the past week and today brings another cool day with the addition of a steady cold rain... can't imagine water temps climbing much from the 58 to 61 I'd been getting overall on the ER Chain, if anything we're probably going to see a drop in surface water temps. Good news? Long range forecasts show a slow but steady warming trend for the coming week.

Muskies seem to be very scattered with smaller fish being seen shallower and larger fish hanging a bit deeper. The usual early season, cool water baits, are still the ticket... little bucktails, minnow baits, etc. What seems to change daily is the presentation of those baits, one day a fast retrieve is the ticket, the next a slowed down version, or even an erratic presentation. Most interestingly is a little trick with the bucktails lately seems to intice a "smash n grab" type of hit everytime... go figure, ya never know what'll trip their trigger.

Hope everyone had a good weekend, good luck to the guys in the upcoming Spring Classic Tournament and good luck to the guys in the first Tuesday evening outing of the Chain Pounders Muskie League... go get em' everyone.
