Default First bait in the water for Canadian muskie opener?

Ok, so what is everyone that will be coming up to fish Canadian muskie opener going to throw on the first stop of the milk run?

With the late spring and likely well below normal water temps combining with higher water than usual that is still rising fast, the landscape may not be typical this year. I would expect weed growth will not have kept up with the rising water levels, especially with cold water and little sunshine so far.

What type of structure will you be hitting first and what type of bait will you throw at it?

I haven't fished that many openers yet as I'm still learning and gaining experience. I believe this will be the 5th year I will try to get out for opener since I began trying to chase muskies and will likely start with a spinner bait around some areas that typically have some good cabbage.

    Default musky opener

you are right on track, I to will be using spinners and a couple of tandem spinners that run a little deeper. White baby white spinner double blade bass style and a few bigger with a hunk of rubber tail behind should work fine.
