The fishing has been picking up the last few days. I have been walleye fishing out on the main lake points. I have been taking the eyes with a jig and minnow or jig and leach presentation. They remain very reluctant to chase your bait, the presentation has to be slow and very vertical. The fish are scattered up and down the pionts some as shallow as 8 feet and some as deep as 30. Working these points has been producing some nice fish in the 20 to 28 inch range. We had a cold and rainy day today so I tucked into and shallow cove, out of the wind, with an average depth of about 15 feet and found a group of walleyes just off the weed line in about 6 to 8 feet.
The bass have been mixed in with the walleyes in the 8 to 25 feet of water, so they have been a nice bonus to the walleye fishing. I have not been spending much time casting the rocky shore line for the bass because the bite has been so good on the deeper points.
