Hope you had time this Memorial Day Weekend to cast a plug at Minnesota's "other fish". Mille Lacs brown and black bass opened with a bang. Heres what we experienced:

Lake Concidtions: Lake Mille Lacs: Water Clairity 5-6 feet, Surface Temps 58-60 degrees.

My observations are that both species are pre spawn. All in all over three days of fishing we caught and released over 50 largemeouth and smallmouth bass. All fish looked very healthy, with good color and no sign of bloddy tails a sure sign of the spawning ritual has not begun. Baits that did the trick were tube jigs and grubs and spinnerbaits.

Fished with a great group from Illinois...some of the guys had never caught a smallmouth, northern pike or musky....all I can say Mille Lacs didnt disappoint them! Numberous pike from hammer handles to 37" and a bonus 42" musky welcomed were true bonus's. Our largest smallmouth was a beautiful 20" 5pound 8 oz beauty and a nice five pound largemouth.

Ill have pics up in a couple days....
