Ice fishing season in the Eagle River area is nearing its end. There's
limited access, and only foot travel should be used. Extreme caution is a
must. Best idea is to hire one of Eagle River's excellent guides to insure
safety and lots of fish.

Perch action is good to excellent in the Eagle River area. The perch are
being found in two patterns: Main lake mud flats in 30 feet of water or
less, or in the weeds in 15 feet of water or less. In both instances, the
perch are hugging the bottom. Use wigglers, spikes, waxies or minnows -
-all should work.

The crappies are providing a good bite * and if a school is located, a
furious bite - -in the Eagle River area. Fish 15 feet of water or less in
and around weeds. The crappies can be suspended at all depths on the water
column. Start at the surface and work your way down until you locate the
fish, remembering that crappie only bite up - -never down. Be mobile and use
electronics. Best baits are crappie minnows under a slip bobber or a waxie
on a small jig.
