Thread: Ice

    Default Ice

So I will start the ice questions! Are we going to have a repeat or worse of last year? I made my first ever trip to Leech, wish it would have been more open. So two questions. 1) Thoughts on ice again this year? 2) I know nobody wants to give up spots, but can you give me a few spots to hit on opener for walleye.

    Thanks a bunch!

    Default Opener

Only Mother Nature can answer the ice question. We need some warm weather. The normal ice out date is near the 24th of April. The walleyes are stagging in shallow water after spawning. On the opener we usually encounter male fish still in the area. The females are usually gone and re-couping after the spawn. Of course all depends on the weather. Pine Point is a popular starting area. The Hardwoods in Sucker Bay are another good opener spot. Check out areas that have a lot of boats, they are usually on fish.
