    Thumbs up Ice Out

Just looked at the NOAA satellite photos from yesterday and today...Grindstone has a huge black ice or open water area, and the Flowage ice is turning grey...could be soon. Other lakes in the area are still solid white, but a lot are going dark!

    Default Here you go

Space Science and Engineering Center, UW-Madison has such a glut of various satellite imaging its impossible to find them all. Worked there as an undergrad so worked on some cool things from Greenland to Antarctica. Anyway.

    Here's your link though.

    http://ge.ssec.wisc.edu/modis-today/

Then move the blue box over the area you are interested in and click.

Then change the image to 250m resolution for the largest zoom.

You can change the date in the top left if interested.

Its the about the highest resolution and closest to real-time satellite imaging I know of.

Have always enjoyed your prowess with the com.
I originally found the site on NOAA by entering: Lake Superior Modis Imagery

It gives you the whole Great Lakes Region by Lake. When I bring it up from my favorites it says the above, but the Address line says:
    http://coastwatch.glerl.noaa.gov/modis/modis.cgi/modis

Hope this helps. It is pretty neat to watch Springtime move North, the brown starts to turn to light then dark greens.

    Best fishes,

Most of the east side is open right now. The west will be mostly open by the end of today. I'm not sure if it will be totally open though. It's going to be today or tomorrow I would guess. I'll get some pictures up this evening after we go for a boat ride. I've seen some fish popping up here and there when I've been walking the dog along shore. I would guess they were muskies because they were pretty big but can't be sure.
