Walleye fishing is just starting and some good size fish are being taken. The Ont side has been muddy due to NE winds and rain so the action has been on the Michigan side. The Ren-Cen area is giving up a few fish as is Great Lakes Steel and the Trenton channel.
Most are using 3/8-5/8oz jigs in a variety of colors. The use of a real minnow is not necessary but will not hurt your chance of landing a walleye or two.

Perch fishing is doing well at the mile marker in Colchester(Lake Erie). Spreaders and pickeral rigs are doing the trick. The bait store in Colchester (Arts) has minnows.

Not much has changed in a wk. Water is still very muddy on the Ontario side of the river and more walleyes are starting to bite as the water temps warm. The locations are the same. Plan a milk run and hopefully you will find an active pod of fish.
