    Default Not Sure...

    Hi Tiny -

When looking at the original picture I thought you were looking south from Crow's Nest looking at the two islands to the south. However, with the new photo are you sitting south of the two islands by Crow's Nest and looking north towards Crow's Nest?

    Default Okay...for my second guess.

How about looking East at the two small islands that are just north of Blue's house and south of campsites C5 and C11?

Those two little islands sure look a lot like the ones in the Turtle lake basin just outside the entrance to Lake Bastine.

    Default The Fox is close

Because the Fox is so close, I'll give it to him. But it is south of the Dam, by the two little islands.

Looking north at Big Island just out of the bay of Sportsmans Landing. By the way, my guess of 2 pix ago that it was just off of hiawatha point going into Lake Bastine was correct! I want a recount! LOL Scott

Your quote above is Hiawatha point. The picture your refering to is Piney Island and the Rock Island behind it by Idle Shores. So you don't get a take me back, strike four!

    Try again,

    Default Oops, meant Shady Rest

Oops, meant the Rock Island by Shady Rest (Ken Newman's place) and not Idle Shores (Hart's place).

    Default Thanks Porky

Thanks Porky, since all of the resorts have closed down a person forgets who's is who's. And the names have changed over the years. I can always count on you to keep me straiten out. So this oldtimer was right the first time.

Thanks Scott for being such a good sport.

Its all fun and games, until you lose an eye. Then its fun and games with one eye.

    Default Allot has changed

What you call Piney Island .. once was called seven pine ( or tree ) island .. then called 5 pine island .. then 3 pine Island .. and now ...

I remember when we were little ( in the 60's ) my brother and I stopped on this Island to pick up a home made Pirate Flag . And when we got off the Island .. many small spiders were on us .. and now that I think of it they may have been ticks . I know now we should have left the flag on the Island .. many smiles and laughs ago . Can't wait for fishing season to open up !

    Default Great fall pic

If you're cruising south on the west side of the flats, is this between the 2nd and 3rd islands?

If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.

These island pictures are tough they all look similar.

    Default MY guess is...

the island in Lake Bastine looking at it from the east or northeast. Cry of the Loon Resort should be just out of frame on the right.

    Thumbs up George

You are in Townline heading east looking back west. It is one of the larger
islands in the Horseshoe Townline area.

Default Looks like Lisa and Gus got my last one

Sorry it took so long to respond. The last picture I posted was of Big Mama on the south end of the big water, just before going into Beaver Creek.

George, my answer to yours is a island on the big water looking east of what the map calls Beaver Flats. Or the area we call Snoose Alley.

    Thanks,

    Any guesses?

    Clues on this one...

the "land" in the forefront and on the left is an island..

the land in the back right is mainland.

    Default Up a lazy river

ski2313, your on the Mantowish river channel facing west and just around the island is the inlet to Blair Lake. Must be high water, because there would be more stumps.

    Very nice shot,

wow.. after reading your description, that is almost exactly how it would look from the spot you described.. however, that is incorrect!

Island on the left, front.. mainland to the back/right...

    Default Same island again?

I think it's taken from the north end of C5/C11 island. On the right, Fisherman's Landing is around the corner just about directly below the setting sun. The island on the left in the background would be the big island on the northwest side of Baraboo.

Default Maybe it was this guy...

The odd thing is that I only saw this guy flying around the TFF once - but on my way home the same weekend, I stopped at Timms Hill near Ogema (a recommended diversion for anyone driving up on Hwy. 13, by the way) and there was another one flying around the lookout tower there. Looks like a fun way to get a bird's-eye view, as long as it's a warm day and you don't have to make an emergency landing in water or trees...
