It's all about the perch, crappies and bluegills now. The gamefish season had closed until the first Saturday of May. I did hear of some nice big pike that were iced locally before seasons end, up to 40 inches and 22 pounds.
The bluegill bite has been fair to good on lakes around Spooner. Morning fishing has been best. I'll be getting out more for crappies soon, a house full of sick children and electrical work has really cut into my ice time. Ice conditions remain good with 28 to 32 inches of good ice in most areas.

Good luck and good fishing,
Jim Stroede
