Thread: crappie Part III

    Default crappie Part III

The crappie bite continues to be strong in Central Wisconsin. We made a trip out on Sunday and managed to again put a lot of fish on the ice. The fish were definitely finicky with the high blue skies but with subtle presentations, we managed to do quite well. Jigging was certainly the ticket as cold temps and wind made the tipdowns tough to use. No pictures this time, the batteries on my camera died. Take a kid fishing

Do you generally use plain crappie minnows or rosy reds on the tipdowns? Do you use a jig or a small hook or treble? Thanks.

I use a combination of rosie reds and plain crappie minnows. I kind of let the fish dictate what they prefer and then switch to what is doing better. I use single hooks on my tipdowns. Hope this helps.
