Thread: Geneva/Delavan Madison's Lakes Report

  1. Default Geneva/Delavan Madison's Lakes Report

    The Blonhaven hunt club has been slow and with the bad weather I have been out on the ice more. The past weeks we have found some quality game and panfish action.

    On Lake Geneva for a few days, it had alot of fishing presssure and ice 8+ inches The bluegills and crappies are the most targeted in Geneva Bay. I had to do some sorting to reach a 8" or bigger total of twenty. They where caught in weed pockets out from Gauge Marine. Seen some nice pike come thru the ice caught on medium shinners. Reports coming in from my fishing network over here are saying they are catching some nice lake trout in the deeper water areas 90' - 105' on jigging spoons. Northern action has been good in Williams Bay, Linn Pier, Narrows, in shallow water weeds.

    Lake Delavan had alot of small panfish being caught along the deep breaks (out from Browns and north, out from Lakelawn, sailing yaught club school at the weedlines although alot of sorting was done here to get those 8"+ Bluegills. Like the gills on Geneva these fish wanted a smaller light colored glow teardrop jig/waxworm (Moonglow's or Custom Jigs).
    we spent a few hours in the dark targeting Walleye and found a small school feeding just outside of the deep weeds caught (2) 16" & 22" on tipup and medium sucker. We work many types of jigging spoons with no hits for Walleye. We did catch one surprise crappie on a Cicada blade bait.

    Madison Chain
    -----------------
    Lake Kegonsa has had sporadic perch fishing with mixed reports coming in. both deep (18')and breakline fish (10'-15')are being caugh. Seems like the weather can really make a big difference on this bite. Bluegills have been reported as slow.

    Lake Waubesa action has been mixed with some success on Blugills out from Christies and Goodland Park and North of Babcock Park in shallower water
    (3' - 8') Smaller jigs with wax worm or plastic wedges are taking the bigger fish with limits of nice taken at times. We have seen and caught a few Northerns in these areas on medium shinners/ (2) Flatheads. {Warmer days with a front coming thru has been the best type for action!!}

    Upper Mud Lake has been reported as giving up panfish they are seeing more action the past weekend twenty + shacks on the ice??

    Lake Mendota fishing reports have been coming in from a few of my network that way with Perch action has been good Fox Bluff, Spring Harbor, Picinic Pt. and north up to the doors breakline in 65-75 feet of water has been producing at times the better sized fish have been suspended in the lower 1/3 of the water. Good Walleye action has been happening off of Dunn's Bar and Gov.Island early and late in the day of after dark both tip-ups and jigging Rapalas tipped with a minnow head or chunck of Gulp are taking these fish. A erratic jigging motion 1 1/2' to 2' lift drops with a very tight line "always" being kept for maximum lure feel.

    Lake Monona had some perch fisherman out of Law Park in 50' to 65' feet of water a short walk and talk with a few of those fisherman showed slow perch action the past few days. We spent a few hours on Monona Bay yesterday with good results although alot of sorting was done to keep (45) Bluegills 7" and more! We fished in the weeds with light Moonglows and Waxworms.

    Be Safe and Keep a Tight Line.
