I remember my grandfather always talking about eating blue "pike" in Ohio as a young lad and didn't realize until i was older he was really talking about eyes.
these are diffrent then blue pike acording to what i read. thhey have a lack of yellow skin pigment but have a blue pigmented mucus.
I've caught I few of those over the years, mostly in the lower Allegheny. I can't recall any from the middle river. I always thought the Canadian Walleyes I caught were exceptionally yellow compared to PA walleyes.

I was fishing in northern Canada, and caught one of these and couldnt believe how blue it was.
