Fished a couple of Park Falls area waters over the past holiday week. The Tuesday before New Year I was fishing on the Flambeau river in front of my place and caught 4 nice walleyes - the biggest being 25" (6 lbs). Released this fish but kept the 3 smaller eaters. Put my shack out on Butternut on Wednesday and fished out of it the next several nights. Lots of flags, kept about a dozen smaller walleyes. Found if a tipup is going up several times, pull it out and start to jig for perch. Ended up keeping several dozen perch over these couple of nights. Fished one other smaller lake and the three of us kept a mix bag of 30 perch - gills - crappies. Driving out on Butternut with the truck - ice firmed up the weekend before New Years.
