Default Leech Lake New Years Report

There is a lot of snow in the Walker area. It is one of the snowiest winter we have experienced in many years. The walleyes are still biting especially at dust. You will catch a lot of small fish in the 10 to 12 inch size, but you can still pick up some nice fish for a meal and an occasional big fish. Rattle spoons tipped with a minnow head is the bait of choice. Experiment if no contact is made or the fish stop eating.

The down side of the snow is that it makes traveling on the lake a true adventure. It is very difficult to travel by truck without chains and or a plow. You must have a shovel with you if you venture out on the big lake. Walker Bay is still dangerous, no vehicle traffic on the bay.

    Happy New Year, be safe.

Your post is spot on Murph. We have been getting fish using the same methods, same depths.
