Default Here comes the water now

The Allegheny River (South of Warren) should have plenty of high/stained water now!! We lost 90 percent of our snow pack and it is still melting as we speak. Snow showers coming later in the day and then temps in the upper 20's for Thursday......might make for some slippery conditions tomorrow morning.

The weekend weather looks good in terms of air temps and being able to cast without freezing up.

Water is very stained here in Tionesta and the river is up 3 ft altogether today. There is a lot of debris coming down the river. Tried fishing while it was rising today from 1 to 4pm on a big flat off the current and while i watched baitfish jumping for there lives from 2 to 3pm could not seem to hook into anything. The bait i have left is too small for my liking and am heading out tomorrow to Oil Creek and set my traps since that has risen a lot too. Should hopefully get some big shiners & suckers in my bait honey hole with a better chance of the eyes and skies finding my offerings.

Kinzua finally opened her gates some yesterday and a little more today.......not sure how far they will open but if the construction down South is still going on, hopefully they will not crank it open full blast.

Outflow levels appear to have peaked and might be on a slight drop this morning.......I hope they at least stay where they are and NOT drop like a rock during the weekend. The Reservoir has a few extra feet of water for this time of year. There is some construction happening in the Pittsburgh area so this high water should not be around for long, according to the Warren paper this morning.

I bet things are a mess South of Warren with all the debris washing through.

The outlfow got as high as 8200cfs on Saturday morning and has been trimmed back down to 1700cfs for Monday. It is obvious that they had to dump a large amount of water over the weekend in order to get the flow back down by Monday. The lock and dam construction near Pittsburgh has definitely impacted the discharge rate here in Warren.

A 2-3 foot vertical rise and fall in 72 hours is pretty incredible.

River has risen from 1700 to 6500cfs in the past 12 hours. I wonder how high it will go......
