Ice is still thin in the area with an average around 3-4 inches. Anglers are getting out and catching fish, Northern Pike are hitting the best but Walleye and perch seem to be getting better with the new ice. At this point I have been fishing around 12 feet of water or less in the weeds or just outside of them. Northerns have been hitting good using medeum to large Shiners under a tipup. Walleye are hitting both Walleye suckers and medium shiners under a tipup, and fathead minnows on a jig or a swimming jig. Perch have been hitting waxies, spikes, and crappie minnows on small jigs in and around the weeds. I have seen a few snowmobles on the ice this weekend, I feel it is to early for anything but foot travel. With the snow falling outside ice production will slow down a little but a week and we should be in full swing. Be safe out there and good luck to all.
