Starting out cool and never really getting water temperatures up in the high 70's to 80's on most of the area lakes was the story this year. I've noticed in the past during my guiding career that the numbers of larger muskies caught are smaller on the whole when this occurs. Cooler years more smaller fish. Warmer years more large muskies are caught. This is not to say some folks didn't catch a 50 incher, but in my boat we boated many 46's 47's 48's and
49's this year in contrast to last year where as we boat 4 fifty plus inchers for the season.

Sad to see another fall over, my favorite time of the year for musky fishing.

Anyway I'll see some of you at the shows this winter and then off to catch marlin in the sun on the Baja Mexico Trip we offer every spring.

Happy Holidays,

Ranger Rick
