Chris and Joe grinded thru a 9-hour fly-casting session hoping to bag a musky. At the end of the day, the net was still dry. We just couldn’t get anything going…..not even a pike. Things were still pretty dead after Wednesday’s cold front for my boat.

Last year, Joe came to the Allegheny River for his first trip at chasing a musky with his fly rod. After 9 casts, he had his first musky in the net. Things were not so easy this year.

The Kinzua discharge was increased yesterday to 1200 cfs but don’t let that fool you. As the storm water finished draining thru the local tributaries, the discharge was increased a little to make up the difference in Pittsburgh so the barge traffic can travel.

Hopefully, we get some decent rain over the next 3 days so Kinzua can get summer levels back to normal. No fishing for my boat until after the 4th.

Stay tuned and good luck!
