Lenny and I chased trout like we always do in April for the past 12 years. Even though we had more action than we have had in the last 6 years, the trout fishery is still in the “under construction” phase. I am not sure if things will ever be as good as they once were but it has certainly gotten a little better, finally. It’s amazing how much better a fishery can be when there are actually fish being stocked there. We hooked 6 and landed 4 with 2 juveniles and 1 walleye in the mix. Lenny did lose a pretty brownie right after she began the “cold water corkscrew” technique during the fight. We fished hard and covered every good spot I know multiple times. Most of our action came from 1 specific area after the river levels dropped to summer-like levels.

The river levels dropped at 9:15 and the sun was super bright. I think those conditions made things a little tougher for us.
