Default Time to give the AGM’s a shot.

After (once again) burning thru my Group 31 regular acid batteries in less than 2 years, I ponied up the money and purchased my first set of AGM trolling motor batteries. If my math is correct, I should save around 500.00 over the next 6-7 years with these VMAX batteries while having enough power to grind thru high river current for 8+ hours. (Even if the savings is zero but these batteries can keep me fishing in the most adverse conditions for 8 hours, I will happily do it.) There is nothing more frustrating than having to quit fishing because the trolling motor cannot keep you where the fish are.

So, Saturday will be the test run since the river is going to be high for the foreseeable future.

    Good luck and stay tuned!

I went with all optima blue top batteries at the beginning of this season. Money well spent on my end. Very happy with the AGMs.

I was close to grabbing the Blue Tops (and had 1 of them back when they first came out and was only running a 12v in a much smaller boat) but decided against it to save several bucks. I can be a bit of a tight arse at times especially with college tuition in play.

Anyway, I continue to be impressed while I grind on them in stiff current.

    Good luck!
