We weren’t sure if the storms would allow us to fish until noon but we launched the boat with fingers crossed anyway. With the low clear water coming out of the dam and some hard rains the night before, I decided to try and find some stained water with hopes of increasing our chances of some larger fish. Considering we were using artificial lures, we ended up having a very productive morning with both numbers and size. We hooked 13-16 bass/walleye and got 11 of them into the net. 3 of the bass were in the 3-4 pound range and several in the 2-3 pound class and a few smaller fish. We also caught a smallish pike. All of the adult bass looked like they were still in prespawn mode because their bellies were bulging with food! We quit around 11:30 after things slowed way down for us.

I am taking the day off to do a little storm clean-up around my house in preparation for the next round of storms coming our way. I will likely fish on Friday depending on weather and river conditions.

Good luck and stay tuned!
