We couldn’t get the big musky from Monday to show herself on Wednesday morning. She may not have even been in the same area after Monday’s close call but it is all we had to go on. We did net a couple pike and had a smaller musky spook off after seeing the boat around 9:30.

Thursday’s mission was to simply catch some fish on artificial lures. We had a pretty solid day with some much better fishing weather as we put 9 smallies and 3 pike in the net while losing another half-dozen bass. It is that time if year when the Spring hatchlings are everywhere and many of the bass strikes are not aggressive resulting in barely hooked/lost fish. The overcast/rainy weather and a bump in river outflows were very helpful.

I am not going anywhere near the river for the next several days as the holiday travelers arrive in Kinzua Country. My next outing will be Monday on Chautauqua Lake chasing muskies.

Good luck, Happy Holidays and stay tuned!
