We tried to hunt down some smallies in the chocolate stained river on Saturday but could only muster a mid-30’s pike. We quit after 3 hours.

On Sunday, the river cleaned up considerably as the Kinzua discharge was increased so we went looking for a musky on a fly rod. We netted a nice pike during late morning and we had an upper-30’s musky eat at boatside (around 1pm) but could not keep her buttoned up. She rolled off after a couple headshakes.

Lots of floating debris in the afternoon as the river levels jumped and we watched the water temps drop by a few degrees.

Now, it is time for another work week as the school days get closer to zero.

Good luck and stay tuned!
