The fishing Ucluelet season ended with good fishing around the normal hotspots this time of year. Wya point and Little Beach were the hot producers from mid August to early September. Anchovies and small Silver Horde spoons were the hottest producers. Chinook were mostly in the 15-25lb range with a few larger taken up to 35lbs. The fishing up inside Barkley Sound was not as good as normal as the fish seemed to head up the inlet quickly once inside.

Coho fishing was good in spurts, but mostly at Big Bank. We had a few days where the black cod were all over the bank, but Coho were again out in decent numbers. There were also a few Coho taken in closer to shore, but not with any real consistently.

Halibut fishing was good up until mid September. DFO increased the halibut limit for the rest of the season up to 2 halibut per day around mid August. It will be interesting to see how things play out for 2021.

If you are wanting to come on a fishing charter in Ucluelet with us in 2021 expect accommodation to be in short supply like these past few summers. This past summer was the hardest season yet to find accommodation. You can check out Ucluelet-Info.com or get one of our fishing packages available at https://www.salmoneye.net/site/fishing-packages.html. We have very little ocean view accommodation but still have some cabins available.

Tight lines,
