This past week has seen it's ups and downs with the weather but the fishing has generally been fair to good and on some days excellent. Although some nice eyes have come out of 12 to 17 foot over submerged wood, the majority have come from the shallow water, 3 to 5 foot over wood, weeds, and wind blown shorelines. Weedless Invasion jigs tipped with large fatheads, muds, or 1/2 crawler have all worked well. My guests and I have been finding some nice crappie in the shallow weeds, 1/16 ounce jigs tipped with medium fats or a 2 inch piece of crawer seemed to work the best. The shallow water wooded areas have been the best so far for walleye' smallmouth, and an unbelievable number of pike, and some hefty ones at that, and have to mention some nice jumbo perch too. Now that the weather is starting to warm up, look for increased activity, ya can't catch them if your locked in your house, get outside, enjoy the fresh air and go fishing.

Back out for a morning trip, should be interesting because it looks like flat water today.
