This past week has seen some very good results from the walleye and jumbo perch with the exception of yesterday when we were hit with a cold front and dropping barometer. Other than yesterdays big shutdown, the best bite has been shallow, 3 to 7 foot over weeds or wood using Invasion jigs tipped with either 1/2 crawler or fatheads. Made no difference if it was sunny or cloudy, the fish were on a good bite, just had to work areas back and forth trying to cover as much of an area as possible. Not only were the walleye and perch active, crappies have been in the mix along with several pike. Now yesterday there was no action at all in the shallows, not even pike. After several moves to different areas, my two guests and I finally found some fairly nice eyes in 14 to 16 foot depths over wood, not an aggressive bite, just added weight on the end of the line and a gentle tug to let you know it was a fish.

Back out tomorrow hoping for a better bite.
