2018 marks the 11th year of our annual fishing contest here at Oak Haven. We measure the fish by length, not weight. To accurately measure a fish, we close the mouth and squeeze the tail. Every year we end up with the top ten biggest Muskie, Northern Pike, Walleye, Largemouth Bass, Crappie, Perch, Rock Bass, Bullhead and Sunfish/Bluegill. This contest is "just for fun"...but integrity is important. Either I measure the fish, Debbie witnesses the measurement, or guests provide photos of their catch laying on an Oak Haven yardstick. Rarely, but sometimes, we enter a fish where there's just enough witnesses to make the story acceptable. When you stay at Oak Haven, you can view all of our fishing records, which are in every cabin.

The biggest Largemouth Bass caught by an Oak Haven guest in the last eleven years, was landed by Reed Hoeppner, just a few days ago. With the mouth closed and the tail squeezed, I measured the fish to be 21 1/4 inches. This ties our current record held by Tyler Domeier. Reed finds himself in first place in our 2018 contest for biggest Largemouth Bass.

In our "All-Time Top Ten"...based on eleven years of record keeping, Reed Hoeppner and Tyler Domeier each have one fish in our top ten. Don Weaver also has one Bass in our top ten. Ed Hoyle and Mark Woldruff each have two Bass in our all-time top ten. And our leader, with THREE bass in our all-time top ten, is Rick Martens.

Enjoy your angling options when you stay here at Oak Haven. Boat to any of nine different quality clear water lakes and pursue so many different species of freshwater fish. When the weather conditions aren't quite right for fishing, come back to the resort and enjoy our two (indoor and outdoor) heated swimming pools, eight flavors of hand scooped ice cream, or a frosty mug of tap root beer in the lodge. Today our pools are at 85-87 degrees. Compare that to 68 degree water temperature in the lakes.

Come to Oak Haven. Friendly people and a clean resort.
