Neal from Galesville, Wi. booked a morning trip on "Pete" for today. He mostly fishes the Mississippi River and back-water areas, but never put a line in the water here. He quickly found out the fishing the flowage is nothing like the big river. He has a Humminbird gps/sonar unit on his boat but does not have a Lake Master data card installed. I explained how the data card is invaluable for finding the channel edges and numerous humps within the lake. We started the morning working channel edges around wood with dead rod and jigs. The jig bite was a little slow, and today the dead rods got most of the action. We boated about 15 "shorties", and seven "keepers" before we switched to the planer boards and hard baits. He has never trolled this way before and really liked how they worked. We had a few more "shorties", 1 more "keeper, 1 slot in the boat, and 1 off at the net, about a dozen nice white bass, and had a 40+ musky on. The musky was the highlight of the day. When the board went back we knew it was a big fish. I had 40 feet of line out behind the board, then another 50 feet after that. When it finally came up to where we could see it, it had a big white bass locked in it's mouth and the white bass was on the bait. He finally opened his mouth and let the white bass go, but made another pass at it before we took it out of the water. Check out the photo. All fish were released.

Keep a tight line!!!
