Well folks, opening day arrived in spectacular fashion! The weather was as good as a person could want, 74 degrees and calm to no wind. It was a welcome relief to get out after the long winter, and better yet the fish were biting. 4 of us went out and came in with our limit of 12 walleye all between 16" to 19 1/2". We caught a few smaller fish and a couple of northern. We missed quite a few fish along the way.We also came in with a good case of sunburn. We found fish in about 7' to 8' ft of water and we used jig and minnow combinations to catch them. The fish we were catching were pre-spawn and hungry. There was a bunch of spawning activity in shallow as we seen splashing by males doing their job. Ice was covering most of the area lakes on opening day but there were a couple open or at least partly open. We had about 40% of the water we were on open. Most lakes should be open by mid week with the larger ones following next week. The Best of the bite is coming. Should be a great week ahead of us. Thanks Jeff
