Tony from Salem, Wisconsin booked a morning trip for Saturday. We launched at Nekoosa and 6 am and headed down river to fish some deep holes and edges on outside river bends. We both jigged one rod with a 1/8 ounce jig tipped with a minnow, and soaked a dead rod with a minnow just above bottom. I took less than 5 minutes and Tony boated his first crappie, and walleye he ever caught. The bite after that was pretty consistent. We easily boated between 40-50 fish. A good time for a person to learn how to target and get the feel for jigging walleyes.
Many times we both had doubles on our rods at the same time. Most fish were smaller males in the 13-14 3/4 inch range, with a few just touching the 15 inch line on the bump board. All fish were released. The water is still about 2 1/2 feet low at this time, hopefully it will start to rise with the warm temperatures forecast throughout the next week.

Keep a tight line!!!
