Summer has produced some bigger fish for our guests.

Katie Brabec (NE) landed a 10 1/4 inch Bluegill on July 14th. That monster is now in first place in our Top Ten Bluegill contest for 2015. (Take an 8 1/2" x 11" sheet of paper and turn it sideways....how many 10 1/4 inch Bluegills have you caught?) On July 17th Logan Brabec (NE) landed a 9 3/4 incher and on July 22nd Penny Antell (WI) landed a 9 3/4 inch Bluegill. On July 31st Katie Sager (IL) landed our 5th biggest Rock Bass for 2015, an 11 5/8 incher.

Todd Gerbrandt (KS) landed a 36 5/8 inch Northern Pike on July 26th. A week later on August 3rd, Stephanie Van't Sant (IA) landed a 34 1/2 inch Pike. On July 30th, Matt Hoeft (MN) landed a 34 inch Muskie. Stories of Muskie and/or Pike following lures or bait to the boat are being enjoyed.

As of today (August 9th) here are the current leaders in our 2015 Fishing Contest: Walleye 25 1/4 inches Dave Jacobson (MN). Crappie 15 1/4 inches Steve Blakstad (MN). Largemouth Bass 20 1/8 inches Dan Tyo (IA). Perch 12 5/8 inches Don Brawner (IN). Rock Bass 12 inches Doug Becker (FL).

Mark Woldruff (IA) continues to be our Giant Bullhead leader with the 14 1/2 inch lunker that he landed back in June.

When we measure our fish for our Fishing Contest we "close the mouth and squeeze the tail." Closing the mouth often reduces the length on some fish like Crappies, Largemouth Bass and more. Our goal is to be fair and consistent...and not exaggerate.

The number of Bluegills caught by kids off our docks this summer has been staggering. Want to watch your kids have some fun? Vacation at Oak Haven.

Air and water temperatures will soon begin to decline which means some great fall fishing is just ahead. We still have some cabins available in September so join us for a relaxing vacation while you are surrounded by the autumn colors.
