June 8th
Stayed in Andrew Bay today. Weather was perfect with overcast skies and very little wind. Started slow but then the action picked up around 11:45 or so. We started up near Square Island and picked up about 2 dozen smallmouth. We decided to go to shore for a "bathroom break" and some lunch and as the girls were making their "bladders gladder" the guys picked up 4 smallies fishing off of shore. After lunch, we stayed around that area and found a nice shoreline and did very well with about 35 smallies/walleyes casting Kalins grubs to shoreline boulders. Around 2:30 we headed to the north side of Andrew and finished with about 10 or so smallmouth/walleye going with the same program of casting grubs in 4-10 ft of water. Largest smallmouth today was 16.5 inches and largest walleye was 22 inches. Lots of action but no really big fish....yet! Love the weather though. Thunderstorms forecasted for tomorrow....
