ICE OUT 2015 & Signs of Spring

The ice went out of the Lake Bastine area on April 11, 2015 and at Sportsmen's Landing/Donners Bay on April 12, 2015. The walleye will be hungry on May 2nd.

There was a flock of swans in Lake Bastine the morning of April 12th and a loon later in the afternoon.

We took a look at the walleyes spawning at Lake of the Falls on Saturday. We had heard they had been in there thick on Friday, April 17. We saw some on Saturday, including some nice ones, but I wouldn't call it "thick" with them, so maybe they spawned quick with the warm up.

We had a pair of loons doing their mating dance in front of our cabins on Sunday. Interesting to watch.

The trees are starting to bud out.

What a difference a year makes.

Scott, thanks for sharing all that is going on up there. Some pics would be nice of the spawners but we know that Blue is not there to give use the wide angle on the lens . Im looking forward to spring and our trip thanks for the reports and posts …..
