Had more hits in the first few days than I have had in whole seasons. But all swings and misses. 2 on bucktails, 2 on hawg wobblers, and 4 on globes. The only honest hits I got were the bucktail, had the rod fully loaded and poof it was off and the hawg wobbler, was not paying attention and the fish hit at boatside banging into the boat and grabbing the lure hard enough to pierce the epoxy coating on it. The rest were slapps at the lures. All the action pretty much came when the water was at 68 and fell off dramatically when we had the hard rains and temp drop which pulled the water down to 61. Was a great trip even though I was skunked, each year I am getting more hits, now to work on my retrieves and hook setting so I can get the buggers to the net
almost all the bites were on shallow weed bed edges near old river channels. Met Tony Rizzo at the Little Red Bar, was great fun to talk with him.
