Wednesday greeted my guest Russ and I with an absolutely perfect day for walleye fishing and the eyes seemed to agree. Rigged with Reeves weedless jigs tipped with either large fatheads or large leeches, we worked mostly 10 to 12 foot depths over submerged stumps and not only found several eyes, but we also ran into some nice crappie, perch, and an occasional smallie. These fish weren't jumping in the boat by any means, we spent time searching for these stumps and when we found them we just dropped the bait in and vertical jigged these spots and it really paid off. By days end, we tallied more than 20 eyes, along with a nice mess of crappie and jumbo perch. Fatheads by far were the biggest fish producer for the day as far as numbers, but leeches produced the larger eyes and smallies.

August is a day away and I have several openings, the fish are biting.
